Capilano Tennis Club is tucked away in a residential area in South Edmonton and our courts are surrounded by parkland with a great view of Edmonton’s downtown. We have 4 regulation Plexipave courts that are protected by windscreens and lit for night playing until midnight. Although our formal season, with a Pro onsite, begins in May and ends September 1st, our courts are available for play in April and throughout October if the weather cooperates.

Our club house has washroom facilities, meeting rooms, a water cooler, and a kitchen for social events. All members receive a key fob which grants them access to the club house and a lock combination which provides access to the courts.

Capilano’s recreational programs are all included with your membership, and involve scheduled drop-ins and fun tournaments for players of all skill levels:

  • Club Night Drop In
  • Morning Drop In
  • Weekend Doubles
  • CTC Singles League

Club Night will return in May 2024 and once a month on a Monday evening from 7pm – 9 pm. This is an opportunity for members to meet each other and to enjoy a friendly game of doubles in a social environment. Members of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.

Morning Drop In (9-11am Monday/Wednesday/Friday) is a continuing tradition at Capilano and is geared for all ages and skills. Play is generally doubles and teams are formed as members arrive. The teams switch around on the half hour, so you get to meet and play with everyone.

Weekend Doubles – We offer 3.0+ Women’s and Men’s Saturday Doubles between 10am-noon, Women’s <3.0 Doubles Sunday 10am-noon and 3.0+ Mixed Doubles is offered Sunday’s from 2-4pm. If you have a partner – great! If not, we can help find you one.

CTC Singles League – occurs Wednesday evenings from 8-10pm.

Members have several options if they wish to play more competitive tennis. These include:

  • Box League sponsored by Prowse & Chowne LLP
  • Club Tournament

The Prowse & Chowne LLP Box League

Box League is a great program for members of all skill levels. Players will be assigned a box with similarly skilled players and encouraged to play everyone in their box within a predetermined period, generally 4 – 5 weeks. You schedule the games at your convenience and track your scores. At the end of each Box League, athletes will be shuffled up or down based on their results.

Box League is a great way to meet and play with other members with similar skills in a somewhat organized fashion, grow your game and be a part of the CTC community!

“Box League is one of the best benefits of membership – especially if you don’t have other tennis pals!”
Tanya Berner

Each year, the CTC puts on a year-end members tournament. There are Women’s and Men’s singles and doubles events, as well as mixed doubles at the under 3.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 levels.

The next annual Club Tournament will be announced in 2024.

Members have access to our Slinger ball machine for individual practice (training on how to use the machine is provided).

There are a variety of ways you can meet hitting partners at your skill level including drop-in programs, box league, or for new members, requesting a club mentor.

Whether you are just getting started in tennis, are a junior player, or are an experienced veteran, you are bound to meet new people and make new friends at Capilano Tennis Club.

Our club has a live WebCam which provides members online access through an app which can be downloaded to your cell phone. This app allows you to view our courts in real time. This feature enables non-local members to evaluate the weather and drive over when the sun is shining in Capilano. Additionally, anyone can see if the courts are busy or available for play.

Volunteers run our club and make things happen! As a not-for-profit club we rely on our volunteers to contribute to club activities and help keep costs low. Once registered, members can obtain up to a $50 rebate by completing a volunteer job.

It’s important for the ongoing success of our club to have volunteers on the Executive team, a committee, at a tournament, or during a social event. We also need muscle to help wash the courts, put up windscreens, clean the clubhouse, and pull the weeds. The opportunities to volunteer are plentiful and the club is made better for your contribution.

You can take private or group lessons with our Pro, at a discounted rate, and attend our club social activities. If you are a competitive player you can join our club box league or sign up for tournaments. Whether you are just getting started in tennis, are a junior player, or are an experienced veteran, you are bound to meet new people and make new friends at Capilano Tennis Club.

Members can take private or group lessons with our Pro’s at a discounted rate. Summer camps start at $45 for 4 sessions, adult group lessons start at $75 for 6 sessions, and private lessons at $50/hr.
